To-day,ie. 02-09-2018 is our Appa,s 108th star birth day. Born in this auspicious day of KRISHNA JEYANTHI in a village at the foot hills of Western Ghats , in the fertile village Koomapatty in Srivilliputhur Taluk in a most respectable and wealthy family. Brought up by affectionately and also in well disciplined manner Had his school studies in the nearby village Watrap walking about 8 kms daily .Lost his father in his teen ages .By his own efforts, became a graduate in American college ,Madurai, the First graduate in our village. Initially joined in Central Excise Department. Subsequently switched over to Police department. Completed his training in Police Training College, Vellore. Got married from a respectful family in Tuticorin.
In the Police department, in the pre Independence days, he was posted in Kulaseharanpattinam, a place 5 kms away from TIRUCHENDUR, the Second Abode of LORD MURUGA. He had started his carrier with the DIVINE BLESSINGS OF LORD MURUGA at TIRUCHENDUR.
Worked in various places in the state in different cadres and moved on to the post of Dy.S.P at the time of retirement.. Known for his Integrity, strict, unbiased way of enforcing Law and Order situation. Had good command both in English and Tamil languages Respected by his superiors, subordinates and also general public by his sincerity and helping nature. Had very good friends in all the places wherever he served. After 29 years of unblemished and sincere service in the Police department, he laid down office at PALANI on completion of 55years as retirement age was 55 years only at that time.
It is a rare coincidence that he got married WITH THE BLESSINGS OF LORD MURUGA AT THIRUPPARANKUNTAM ,started his carrier WITH HIS BLESSINGS AT TIRUCHENDUR and retired from service WITH HIS BLESSINGS AT PALANI.
After retirement, he had an assignment in a private Chemical factory Dharangadhara Chemical Works at, Sahupuram ,Arumuganery for another period of three years .He earned a lot of well wishers there also who are in contact with us even till date. He had good respect in our native village also and people would call him only as DSP IYYAH.
Even though. our family is a big one as he had healthy brood of boys and girls, he had completed all his family responsibilities to the best of his ablities in a well planned way and placed all his children in a comfortable position and left us in 1983 at the age of 72 years ON VAIKASI VISAGAM,DAY, the birth day of LORD MURUGA..One Mr. Subramaniam who was a well known Doctor in Tirunelvely district in 1950s, was one of his close friend.Doctor was a well wisher of our family and known to all the members in our family., Doctor used to visit our house when we were at Palayamkottai daily on his way to his clinic to say Hellow to our father .Though he was a brahmin , he would like to have our house food often especially our famous Tirunelvely SOTHY.. He would take the liberty of asking our cook Somu to prepare SOTHY once in a way and come for lunch.
In 1983,after father,s death, Doctor, coming from Tirunelvely to our house at Tuticorin to condole the death of father met all of us. .He informed us --- Mr. RAMALINGAM LED A NOBLE LIFE AND WAS LIKE A BANYAN TREE PROTECTING AND GIVING SHELTER NOT ONLY TO HIS FAMILY, RELATIVES BUT ALSO TO ALL HIS FRIENDS . IT IS A LOSS TO ALL WHO HAD MOVED CLOSELY WITH HIM. WE HAVE LOST A GUIDING FRIEND .
Everybody, who had moved with, him during that time expressed the same complements, Yes, the opinion of Doctor and others are 100 % true and we are proud of our father A.RAMALINGAM... WE REMEMBER HIM WITH DUE RESPECTS ON HIS 108th STAR BIRTH DAY TO-DAY..
